China's Commerce Ministry said it would take necessary measures if some WTO members continue to treat China as a non market economy.

That came after Japan followed the EU and the US by denying China's market economy status on Thursday.

Commerce Ministry Spokesman Shen Danyang said Beijing is urging all WTO members to stop referring to third-party countries in calculating costs in anti-dumping investigations against China.

Shen said that's the obligation under Article 15 of the Protocol on China's accession to the WTO.

China joined the WTO in 2001. It agreed to let other members treat it as a non-market economy for 15 years. That status will expire on December 11th.
