Turkish media quoting police sources say a male and a female attacker carried out the attack on an Istanbul soccer stadium last weekend.

The Turkish Foreign Minister said one of them was from Syria. Media reports said the vehicle used for the attack was procured online and handed over to the attackers via a third party.

Surveillance footage shows they emerged around the Istanbul police headquarters and later drove to the stadium in Besiktas.

The woman rammed the car, which was loaded with explosives, into riot police outside the stadium after dropping the man at a park opposite to the soccer stadium. The male suspect denoted himself 45 seconds after the first bombing.

Forty-four people have been pronounced dead in the attack, and most of them are police officers.

An offshoot of the militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party claimed responsibility for the twin attacks.
