She is also the reigning world champ in the ten-thousand metres. The 33-year-old recently sat down with Celestine Karoney, to discuss her triumph at the Olympics, by beating Almaz Ayana of Ethiopia, and what to her goals are for the future.

Q: "Vivian, you graduated a silver and a bronze, to a gold and a silver in Rio. Have you, however, felt in the course of your track career that you always had to prove something against the Ethiopian runners? First it was Meseret Defar and Tirunesh Dibaba. Then it was Almaz Ayana.
