Human Rights Council kicks off in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday and will last four weeks until March 24th. Ministers and senior officials from nearly 50 countries will be in attendance. A wide range of topics like children's rights, persons with disabilities, and the human rights situations in some countries will be discussed.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi published an article in China's People's Daily reiterating the country's stance on the UN's human rights work. Wang said no one should politicize the issue, or interfere in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights. He also mentioned peace and stability were preconditions for protecting human rights.

Wang said China is committed to advancing human rights. While striving to improve human rights of its own people, China is also contributing to human rights development around the world.
