And the Czech will be a favourite to win again, and she looked in fine form in her opening encounter against Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko.

Pick things up in the first, and Ostapenko serving, but facing a break point, and the Latvian's return's is long, giving Kvitova a 5-3 advantage, as the Czech takes the opener 6-3.

The lefthander would have an easy time of things in the second, winning the first four games to take control.

The 19-year-old youngster avoids getting bagelled, as she is able to hold serve in the next game, to get on the board in the second.

But that would be the only game she wins in the frame, as Kvitova fires home a cross-court backhand winner to seal a 6-3, 6-1 triumph, and move to the next round.

Meanwhile, an all Chinese contest picks out Peng Shuai against Zhang Shuai. The match will end up with Zhang winning over Peng.
