Both the Pakistani Taliban and the Islamic State militant group in Pakistan have claimed responsibility for Monday night's deadly attack on a police academy in the city of Quetta. At least 60 people were killed, and more than 100 wounded, when three gunmen wearing suicide vests stormed the facility.
The insurgents targeted sleeping units, and waged a ferocious gun battle for four hours before blowing themselves up. Most of the victims were police cadets. There are fears the death toll could rise considerably.
