Tibet now is enjoying a period of rapid development, as infrastructure construction, the agricultural industry, and other sectors in the region have experienced great achievements since 2001.
Over the past decade, the completion of a series of major projects -- including the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Jinhe Power Plant, and Shiquanhe Hydropower Station -- has greatly contributed to the region's development.
In the transportation sector, the length of highways in operation has now reached about 50,000 kilometers ... and a comprehensive transportation system has been formed.
Nakchu Resident of Tibet said, "More supplies have been transported into Tibet since the railway opened. Out life also became more convenient."
In 2009, the government invested more than 800 million yuan into the agriculture industry.
Farmer's incomes have seen a significant rise of greater than 20 percent.
Pelma Trile, Chairman of People'd Government of Tibet, said, "8 years ago, the total output value of Tibet was about 10 billion yuan, but now it has risen to 40 billion. Per capita income was about 1,000 yuan in 2001, but now it is well above 3,000 yuan."
These major projects were primarily funded by the central government.
Since the 4th National Conference on Tibet was held in 2001, the government has approved nearly 300 development projects in the region worth 140 billion yuan.
