UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, has hailed the presidential and provincial elections held in Afghanistan.
Ban commended the Independent Election Commission, and all other Afghan and international parties, supporting the electoral process for operating in an "extremely challenging environment".
Meanwhile, the UN special envoy to Afghanistan calls the presidential election an "achievement" after voting ended without major security incidents.
Kai Eide, UN Special Envoy, said, "How we see the election taken place across Afghanistan -- I believe that in itself is an achievement."(OUT)
